Pain Management
Persistent pain, commonly known as chronic pain, is typically defined as pain that endures for a prolonged period, extending beyond the normal time expected for tissue healing. In contrast to acute pain, which usually resolves as the underlying cause heals within a few months, persistent pain continues for weeks, months, or even years.
This type of pain can stem from various conditions, injuries, or diseases, affecting different parts of the body. It may also coexist with pain from other sources like muscle pain and joint pain. Managing persistent pain is often challenging, with medications providing limited relief. It can significantly impact a person’s daily life, influencing both physical and emotional well-being. It’s for these reasons a good pain management plan needs to be in place.
